Polish bird flu not a threat to people, say officials

Meat producers in Warmia and Mazury have started to recall poultry from local stores that may be infected with the H5N1 Bird flu virus.

Officials estimate that as many as seven thousand birds from local Turkey farms, may still be on store shelves. Authorities are assuring the public that there is no danger to humans as this particular strain of bird flu must first mutate before it starts to pose threat to people.

The infected poultry is being utilized and exports have stopped. The situation is reportedly stable.
