France confirms second bird flu case

France’s Agriculture Ministry confirmed that a second wild duck has been diagnosed with the H5N1 strain of bird flu.

The duck was found dead on February 19 in the eastern part of the country. The ministry also said that the tests on samples, taken from the infected duck, were found to have a strain of bird flu that was “99 percent homologous with the virus identified in the wild duck in Joyeux on Saturday, February 18.
