Egypt reports 2 more human bird flu cases

Egyptian Health Minister Hatem el-Gabali said on Sunday that two more Egyptians have been infected with the bird flu virus. This brings to eight the total number of human bird flu cases in the country.

The two new cases are sisters, an 18 month old and the other a six year old. are from the Kafr el-Sheikh province north of Cairo.

Authorities are also saying that the two sisters most likely caught the virus from dead birds they had contact with. Both sisters are in stable condition at a local hospital.
Results of blood tests taken from members of their immediate family came back negative for the bird flu virus.
