Third human case of H5N1 bird flu suspected in Egypt

On Monday Egyptian Health Minister Hatem el- Gabali said that a third suspected human bird flu infection was reported in northern Egypt.

Reporters were told that the infected patient was a 30 year-old woman who was raising poultry inside her house and had personally culled the birds 15 days ago in the town of Qalyoubia, some 40 km (24.8 miles) north of Cairo.

The woman, identified as Fatma Mohamed Youssef Sabri, is now in the intensive care unit of a Cairo hospital.
