H5N1 Bird flu reaches Berlin
Officials from the German Health Ministry confirmed it’s first case of the H5N1 bird flu virus today.
The bird, a wild buzzard, was found in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district on the eastern edge of the city.
The Health Ministry said a three-kilometer (2 mile) buffer zone was created to isolate the neighborhood where the case appeared and another ten-kilometer (6 mile) area was placed under quarantine.
