EU bans Israel poultry imports as bird flu found

The European Union has banned poultry imports from Israel after the country confirmed the presence of the lethal H5N1 strain of bird flu on two turkey farms, the EU’s executive Commission said on Friday.

Heat-treated poultry products from Israel may still be imported along with meat and meat products from poultry slaughtered before February 15, it said in a statement.
