Denmark grounds flight in bird flu false alarm

COPENHAGEN, April 20 (Reuters) - Danish airport authorities briefly quarantined a Singapore Airlines flight on Thursday over fears a passenger might have bird flu, but everyone on board was allowed to disembark after it proved to be a false alarm.

Danish media quoted airport police saying the captain of the flight from Singapore radioed ahead to say a 31-year-old Swedish woman had symptoms consistent with the virus. On landing, the plane was escorted to an isolated part of the airfield.

The 275 passengers and 20 crew members had to remain aboard while doctors examined the sick woman, who had been holidaying in Thailand. She was found to have a simple stomach ailment.
