Bird flu, The movie
With all the news coverage of the bird flu lately, ourselves included, it was only a matter of time before some major tv/movie network came out with a movie about the recent outbreaks.
Tonight ABC will air “Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America”. The question is, will the movie be based on fact or fiction? Most people have heard of the bird flu virus by now, but how many actually bothered to read up on it? And I am not talking about the hyped part of the virus. I mean the actual facts.
Most of us understand that the bird flu virus will eventually reach the United States, but the question is how bad will it be. We still don’t have concrete proof of human to human spread of the virus, although there have been a few unconfirmed reports.
These reports were based on the fact that some infected individuals were never in direct contact with an infected bird, but were in contact with a person infected with the bird flu virus.
Well if nothing else maybe the movie will get people’s attention enough to have them actually do a little research on the subject instead of believing every rumor that pops up. There are plenty of references on this website for those that are looking.
And for those that just don’t care, well let’s just hope they see tonight’s movie as a could happen and not as a will happen about bird flu.
