Bird flu in Skane (Sweden)

A wild duck in Ahus in Skane has been found contaminated with an aggressive strain of H5 bird flu.

The Swedish Board of Agriculture and the National Veterinary Institute confirmed in a joint press release on Tuesday that the area where the duck was found is relatively close to Solvesborg, where the virus has been found previously.

No areas of Ahus have been closed to the public but zones of three to ten kilometres (1.8 to 6.2 miles) have been flagged as monitored and protected.
