Bangladesh seizes thousands of birds smuggled from India

Bangladesh authorities said yesterday that border guards had seized and burned almost 16,000 chickens that had been smuggled into the country from India in the last two days.

Bangladesh had tightened it’s borders following multiple cases of the bird flu virus in India, which shares a border with Bangladesh.

“We seized the Indian chickens from border areas in eastern district of Comilla and northern district of Rajshahi on Thursday night and Friday,” said a Bangladesh Rifles officer.
