Avian influenza causes EU to ban all poultry from Bulgaria

The European Commission stated Thursday that it was banning imports of all poultry from Bulgaria after an outbreak of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza was confirmed in the country last week.

“EU imports of live poultry, ratites, farmed and wild feathered game, and hatching eggs from these birds from the whole of Bulgaria are to be banned,” it said in a statement.
