11-year-old Indonesian boy dies from bird flu virus
The Indonesian Health Ministry confirmed Sunday that an 11-year-old boy, who died Saturday evening, was infected by the avian influenza virus, bringing the total death from the disease to 53 out of 71 cases in the country.
Joko Susilo, an official at the anti bird-flu center, told reporters that the boy, from South Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia, had contact with fowl.
“He is positively infected,” Joko said.
