1.6 mln domestic birds vaccinated against bird flu southern Russia
About 1.6 million domestic birds were vaccinated from bird flu in southern Russia, the information department of the Emergencies Ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday. “The planned vaccination has begun in southern regions on March 10. For this period of time more than 1,580,000 birds were vaccinated, about 763,000 birds were vaccinated over the past day,” the information department said.
The Pokrovsky plant of biopreparations supplied 7,930,000 vaccines to the Southern Federal District. The Emergencies Ministry stressed that “this amount of vaccines meets the needs of the region.”
According to the information department of the ministry, the poultry vaccination is being conducted in all constituents of the Southern Federal District. The bird flu outbreaks have already been registered in Dagestan, Kalmykia, Adygeya, Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, the Stavropol and Krasnodar territories and in the Astrakhan region.
